If a lot of data visualizations tools are available today, their digital aspect may not prompt users to check personal data on a regular basis. They might not be aware of their weekly spendings, or the amount of time they spent on their computer. Physical computing provides the opportunity to bring this data to life.
Marc Estruch, Michael James and I created a visualization artwork, meant to be hanged in someone's home, mapping personal data to the amount of visible colored water. While this piece allows its owner to get a sense of the data of interest, someone unfamiliar with its meaning could still enjoy the evolution of the piece without knowing that data is displayed.
